I liquid wrapped this Chrysler 200 in Raail AirWrap with the color Pink Popsicle from DrPigment. This peel-able auto paint will last 3+ years, protect the factory paint, and peel off easier than vinyl. Here’s how I did it.
MASK
After washing the car with water and Dawn Dish Soap 24hrs in advance, I start masking. Plazmask is always a nice time saver. It is just plastic film that is pre-taped but it makes masking windows and roofs extremely easy. A little bit of solvent resistant paper and some tape and this car is ready to spray. Most of these supplies can be found in the Starter Kit on DrPigment.com
Base
This one is getting a light grey base to compliment the bright color we are about to put on. The small AirWrap Kit is going to come with enough paint to do this size car properly. It needs anywhere from 4-5 gallons of product on it in order to peel correctly. Im using a 60gal compressor and HVLP gun with 1.7mm tip for both the base and color.
COLOR
Time for some color! This car is getting a bright color called “Pink Popsicle”. First I mix an 8oz drop-in-tint into a gallon of un-tinted AirWrap then I get to work. I put about 2.5gal of color down on the car before moving on to the unmasking.
UNMASK
While the last coat is drying, I start peeling off the plastic and masking paper being careful not to let it touch the wet paint. We also did the wheels and trim black for the customer for a sleeker look. She said she was going to get the soft top replaced with a black one as well which would look really good. The customer loved it and so did I. As always, everything we used is listed below. If you are interested in getting your car wrapped, give me a call!
